PINE BARRENSCOFFEE CO.

Coming soon · Roasted in South Jersey

Coffee from the edge of the pines.

A father and son, roasting specialty coffee in small batches in the heart of South Jersey. The first roasts are on their way.

Our story

Named for a million acres of pitch pine.

The Pine Barrens cover more than a million acres of South Jersey: pitch pine, cedar swamps, tea-colored rivers and miles of sand road. South Jersey is home, so the company is named after them.

Pine Barrens Coffee Co. is Doug Smith and his son Brian. We roast whole-bean coffee ourselves, a small batch at a time.

We are starting with one coffee, a washed Colombia from Productores de Buesaco, and adding more as we go. When we launch, it will be sold locally in South Jersey.

The first lineup

Three origins, numbered like a field journal.

Nothing is for sale yet. Colombia is the coffee we have in hand and the first we will roast. Ethiopia and Sumatra are likely to follow, and details may change before the first bag ships.

How we roast

Slow mornings, patient fire.

  1. I

    Small batches

A few pounds at a time, so every batch gets watched from first crack to cooling tray.

  2. II

    Roasted fresh

Beans are bagged within days of roasting, not months. Freshness is most of the flavor.

  3. III

    Close to home

Sold locally in South Jersey, by the two people who roasted it.
